Blackpool Wakepark

Blackpool Wakepark opened in May 2010, featuring the North West’s first and only cable wakeboarding facility. The Wakepark is situated by a man made freshwater lake along the Fylde countryside just minutes from the M55 motorway.

Unlike a conventional ski boat the operator of the System 2.0 is just meters away from the rider when he/she attempts to stand up on the water. This provides a great learning environment for novices as communication between the instructor, driver, family or friends is never lost. This also provides a great coaching atmosphere for intermediate and advanced riders to develop their skills.

The Sesitec system 2.0 originates in Germany, home to some of the best cable parks in the world; it was developed to allow for a continuous ride. Therefore the days of falling off and paddling to muddy banks then walking back are over.

If you do let go or fall into the water the operator slowly brings the handle back to you, therefore allowing you to start wakeboarding from exactly where you fell. As a result the time you are on the water is very intense and should not be underestimated.

The lake is approximately 250m long and there are several floating sliders and kickers either side of the cable. The System 2.0 is also a great for wakeskaters to dial the flat water tricks.

The System 2.0 is not only just an effective way to hit rails, the pros have assured us that it is the ideal learning tool for Raleys and other air tricks that complement both boat and full cable riding. Kiteboarders can also take advantage of this.

You may wonder how riders go so high without the wake or any ramps, they do this by edging hard against the cable which generates load and tension in the line, and they then release their edge catapulting them into the air. Easier said than done.
